Owner

Jill E. Jourdan, Esq.

Managing attorney and owner of Northeast Kingdom Law. Jill completed her Bachelor of Arts degree at Norwich University. She graduated from New England School of Law in Boston and was admitted to the Vermont Bar in 2002. In 2009, Jill was admitted to the United States District Court for the District of Vermont. Aside from practicing law, Jill likes to walk her dog, golf, hike, cook, write and boat.

Associate

Lydia V. Newcomb, Esq. (VT & NY)

Lydia is originally from Vermont. She went on to Kenyon College, where she earned her B.A. in International Studies, Latin America and Political Science. After college, and a lot of time in South America, Lydia moved back to New York City. She worked for several years as a paralegal at a Manhattan franchise law firm before attending law school at the State University of New York at Buffalo.  While in law school Lydia worked as a law clerk for Prisoners’ Legal Services of New York. She was also a law clerk for the Honorable Julio M. Fuentes in the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. After law school Lydia remained in New York City practicing as a criminal defense attorney in all five boroughs for the next five years. Lydia worked with a number of prominent NYC criminal defense attorneys and law firms, and also maintained a solo practice throughout her tenure in NYC. While primarily a criminal defense attorney, Lydia also has experience in family law and corporate litigation. In 2019, she decided to move back to Vermont and join Northeast Kingdom Law. Lydia is licensed in New York State and Federal courts, as well as in the State of Vermont.

ASSOCIATE

Alan Franklin, Esq.

Alan is a Northeast Kingdom native, growing up in Newport and attending North Country Union High School.  He received his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Vermont.  Alan was first admitted to the Ohio Bar in 1991 and later to the Vermont bar in 2002. He graduated cum laude from the University of Akron School of Law, where he was a member of the Akron Law Review.  Alan served as deputy State’s Attorney for six years in the Orleans County State’s Attorney’s office and finally served as Orleans County State’s Attorney  from 2011 to 2015.  Alan’s experience is varied,  from work at the Summit County (Ohio) Juvenile Court to General Counsel at North Country Hospital to the Vermont Agency of Transportation.  He is proud to have served in the United States Army, both, active duty and reserves. He joined Northeast Kingdom Law in 2019.
